The Center for Electronic
Studying, College of Education, University of Oregon,
has been investigating the use of computer-based study strategies (CBSS)
since 1989. Dr. Lynne Anderson-Inman investigated the use of computer-based information organizers
such as electronic outlining and concept mapping programs for taking notes,
studying for tests, and synthesizing information. She has paid particular
attention to the ways in which computer-supported studying can be used to
minimize the negative impact of students' disabilities and developed strategies to enhance their individual
learning strengths. The Center has
innumerable links to satisfy both the practical and theoretical.
Several school districts,
other educational organizations, community members, State agencies, and businesses
inside and outside Wyoming have formed a consortium called TRAIN West. The purpose
of the project is to serve as a clearinghouse that provides and acts as a broker
of technology and technology related services to school districts in rural America.
