Academic Systems Specialist
- System Administrator Novell NetWare responsible for installation and maintenence
of Netware NDS and eDirectory environment providing user-based network authentication,
email, anti-virus, web and application services to 375 faculty and staff users and authentication
services for 7500 student users. Implemented and maintain the campus printing environment
for over 95 networked printers upgrading system to Novell's NDPS printing environment
in 2003. Most recently implemented Virtual Office, iPrint, iFolder, NetStorage, eGuide and GroupWise
in the Netware environment. Netware versions 3 - OES.
- Email Administrator managing email systems on Netware and Linux mail servers.
In 2002, designed and implemented an email system to utilize a new campus-wide
domain, consolidating multiple legacy email domains into one. Implemeted and maintain
MX services providing campus mail routing to and from the Internet.
Established remote email access via POP, IMAP and WWW (webmail.caspercollege.edu).
In 2003 implemented spam and virus filtering for all
email to and from caspercollege.edu domain.
In 2006 designed and implemented a GroupWise 7 email system for local, remote and wireless users. Trained and moved all Faculty,
Administrative and Staff users to GroupWise post office from Pegasus Mail.
Experience with GroupWise, Sendmail, Mercury/32 and
Mercury/nlm MTA's. GroupWise, Pegasus, Pine, Netscape and Outlook MUA's. SMTP, POP, SOAP and
IMAP protocols.
- System Administrator Red Hat Linux Internet servers, providing online courses
(via WebCT), email, web hosting, and other internet services for student, staff and faculty.
Red Hat versions 5.x - 9.x.
- System Administrator Windows NT Internet server, hosting
the colleges primary website.
NT versions 3.51, 4.0 and IIS versions 2, 3 & 4. (1996-2000)
- Webmaster - Established the colleges first web presence in April 1996. In 1997
the CC web site was voted USA Group's "Cool School Site of the Month". Continued to
develop and maintain the college web site until September 2000, when a full-time
webmaster position was approved and filled. (1996-2000)

Senior Computer Specialist (VAX System Manager)
- Managed a 3-VAX cluster, responsible for all aspects of system operation
and administration resulting in maximum system availability, increasing
productivity, insuring data integrity, while maintaining an efficient, smooth
running system.
- Stand-by Netware Administrator for a 125-user Novell 3.12
network to insure uninterrupted administrative support, resulting in
continued work flow during all working hours.
- Responsible for ongoing training and support of approximately thirty
users of geologic mapping and geoscience applications resulting in
continually improving exploratory expertise.
- Performed hardware maintenance, repair, and replacement on multiple
platform machines and associated peripherals, network installation and
configuration, resulting in reduced downtime and service calls.
- Established a communications server, allowing the company's
remote field locations dial-in capability to the LAN and WAN for
access to corporate E-Mail system and other services providing those
sites with increased efficiency in communication.
- Developed a Disaster Contingency Plan for the Casper office
insuring the continuation of data and voice systems as well as data
integrity in the event of a destructive disaster.
- Provided technical support for geoscience staff in the form of data
entry, via digitizer and keyboard, mentoring, and "best practice"
consultation resulting in reduced project time.
- Developed an automated backup procedure resulting in the elimination
of operator assisted backups and optimum data integrity.
- Provided support for Macintosh drafting environment and networking
to VAX system for passing graphic output to electrostatic plotter.
- Installed graphic terminal emulation package on Novell network and
TCP/IP software on VAX allowing any user on network
connectivity to VAX-based applications from their own office.

Exploration Technician
- Performed Geologic/Geophysical data aquisition, manipulation and mapping.
Geologic cross section construction, report writing, assistance to Geologists.
- Responsible for the ongoing training and support of approximately
twenty users of geologic mapping and geoscience applications
resulting in continually improving exploratory expertise.
- Managed the Casper well core repository resulting in the first digital
cataloging of some 250 Rocky Mountain region well cores and sample
cuttings.
