Stat Disk is an easy program to use that will help you do some of the more tedious tasks involved in this course. This page is a brief tutorial
RUNNING STATDISK FROM Windows 95 (or 98)
The opening page of Stat Disk should look as follows: (note this is Windows 98 screen)

Just click OK to begin operation.
To get mean, median, standard deviation, variance and a five number summary for your data, do the following
You will see the following pull down menu


3. Click your mouse in the box titled Untitled to change the title of the data, click in the second column after #1 to enter the data

4. Once your data is entered, click the Data bar and select descriptive statistics, here is a sample of what comes up
1. Select the data bar and select histogram, you will see the following dialog box appear:
2. Enter the data (in a similar manner as you did in descriptive statistics)
3. Click on the Evaluate button. You will see the following dialog box appear
You can change the histogram to a relative frequency histogram (just select this button) and change the class width and class start if you wish or take the auto fit selection. When ready click on ok. Here is a sample of your output
Any changes to the data or if you want to change class width or start, just click evaluate again
1. Select the data bar and select boxplot, you will see the following dialog box appear
2. Type in your data as before. Note you can enter more than one column of data. This is useful for comparing two simlar data sets
3. Click on evaluate, you will see the following box appear
Select all the columns you wish to plot and click on OK. Here is a sample of what you might see
TO PRINT - Select File and Print
TO SAVE - Select File and Save
TO LOAD EXISTING DATA - Select File and Open. Use the copy button to move this data to one of the dialog boxes for descriptive statistics or histograms or boxplot
